The Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Genomics and Public Health Working Group is dedicated to advancing the responsible integration of AI in genomics and public health. The group seeks to evaluate current AI tools to assess their performance, identify gaps for improvement, and recommend best practices for effective implementation across research and public health. This team will promote standardization by working toward common benchmarks and data formats while fostering collaboration among AI developers, genomics researchers and public health professionals. They will also address ethical concerns, creating frameworks for responsible AI use that align with privacy regulations and tackle issues like bias and interpretability. By identifying emerging research areas and providing training, awareness and engagement opportunities, the working group seeks to fast-track innovation and increase AI adoption in genomics and public health.
